My name is Alec Gearty. I am a graduate of West Virginia University, where I majored in Journalism and earned a minor in Sports Communication.
I’ve most recently worked for Sporting News Canada as an intern and Digital Content Producer. In 2018, I worked for the Buffalo Sabres and covered the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship. My work has also been featured in Sports Illustrated, DKPittsburghSports.com and WWNLive.com (Evolve Wrestling).
At West Virginia, I worked on numerous beats — including football and men’s basketball — for The Daily Athenaeum. After a year with the newspaper, I served as a Campus Correspondent for Sports Illustrated’s Campus Rush, featuring the culture and the behind the scenes look surrounding WVU football.
